When I was young, I played outside a lot! A day couldn’t pass by without saying ‘Hi’ to the neighborhood kids. Talking face to face instead of Whatsapp. Being too late at our favorite playground, so you had to hurry up, because otherwise they might have already left! Now you just call and tell them you are late. Kids then didn’t have phones, or a lot of other technology like a PlayStation, Ipad or a computer. We played outside and became dirty from the mud, ripped our pants open from entering the bushes and made our house a really easy target for burglars with the rope hanging outside the doors’ mailbox (so we could enter the house whenever we wanted without bothering our parents).
Nowadays we have other things that keep the kids going. Talking about Ipads, Computers and PlayStations but not to forget; the mobile phone! I actually can’t live without my phone anymore. Especially during work it comes in handy, for instance when creating and editing pictures, or checking my Instagram feed. Which brings me to one of my other uses, socializing! Thinking about it now, I use my phone for basically everything in my life..! It feels odd to think that people that were my age 20 years ago didn’t have this amazing comfort in their lives. Fun fact: The first ever call made with a cellular phone was in 1973!
Today, my life is connected with a MacBook, IPhone, IPad and IMac (yep, Apple Fan-girl right here..). I stay up-to-date by reading Facebook - if I ever wonder what my friends are up to - or I check out my Instagram to see endless streams of pictures. I use the Cloud to keep my work safe and stored. I read the news online via news applications and haven’t touched an old-school newspaper in a very long time. Most of you will probably relate if I say that one of my biggest ‘first world problems’ is choosing a new phone.. Will it be an IPhone 8, 8s or even the new X this time?
Technology of the future
I guess you have already heard about Apple’s new release, the IPhone X. I, as a big Apple fan, couldn’t wait to hear about the new features this Phone has. The IPhone X was released exactly 10 years after Apple released the very first original IPhone.
The new IPhone X has a lot of great features. Like unlocking your phone with Face recognition (Face ID). Or using your voice to unlock. Or the OLED touchscreen with a 5,8-inch infinity screen! Sounds awesome, but of course it has its price. And is the IPhone X worth all the extra xxxx? Nowadays it is relatively easy to get yourself an expensive phone, basically by just getting a subscription - for your new IPhone X for instance!
Well, I have to say I generally have to think twice before getting a Mobile Phone subscription. Of course it is a loan, and from this year, you get a registration at the BKR in the Netherlands. Which means that if you’d want to get a mortgage, the bank will take this credit loan in consideration as well.
So besides the fact that this IPhone X is amazing, would you pay the hefty price? Or would you get a Mobile Phone subscription to get your hands on this incredible piece of technology? Let me know in the comments!
Where playing outside in the good old days was free, the future often comes with a hefty price tag.
